At Lakeside, we believe that investing in the next generation and intentionally seeking to see them develop into faithful followers of Jesus is NOT an option. We are commanded in scripture to teach our children who God is and how we are to love and know and serve him (Deut. 6:4-9).
With that in mind, and understanding that the goal of every ministry in the church is not to entertain or attract, but to encourage and exhort faithful followers of Christ, the Lakeside Children's Ministry Team has developed the following Mission Statement and Core Convictions that will guide and direct all we do.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Lakeside Children's Ministry exists to partner with parents to raise up children that LOVE JESUS MOST!
- The Parent is Primary - The parent has the primary biblical responsibility for teaching and shepherding the young souls in their home. The church should come alongside parents as they shepherd their children through encouragement and instruction.
- Every child is precious - The world may look at children as a nuisance. But children are precious in the sight of God. Because he cares deeply for their well-being so should we!
- Kids need the glorious GOSPEL, not mere moralism - The gospel is the good news of Christ's death for sin and the grace offered to all who would repent and believe. This is what children need to hear in order awaken love for Christ and transform little hearts. In other words, they need to first hear about how GOOD Jesus is, not just how good they need to be.
- To Know God is to Love and Live for God - When we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we are no longer the boss of our life â€" He is. But we don't just have a new boss, we've been adopted into a new family and have a new Father. One who loves us and cares for us.
